T.O.S.

TweetYourPrayers.org (TYP) is a web-service that was established with the core purpose of making the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and specifically the Jewish tradition of placing notes with prayers in its crevices, accessible to people all over the world. TYP uses Twitter as its main platform for this service, and allows Twitter users to “tweet” their prayers to the Western Wall (a.k.a the Kotel). Prayers received are printed on paper, made into notes, and placed in the Western Wall.

This service is completely free of charge, and is performed by volunteers who put in time and effort for making this happen.

Using this service is subject to a few limitations, which are listed below. By using this service to transmit your prayers, you agree to these terms.

1. You, the Twitter user, carry the sole responsibility to your actions and their consequences.

2. For privacy, prayers are to be sent via Direct Messages. A direct message in Twitter means that when a tweet is sent, it can be viewed only by the sender and the receiver (provided, of course, that none of them republishes that tweet later). When tweets are not sent via direct messages it is possible for others (such as the sender’s followers) to view them. It’s your sole responsibility to fully understand the tweeting process before you tweet. Don’t tweet unless you’re sure how.

2. This service is provided as-is. You should keep in mind that from the nature of this service, there is absolutely no guarantee if, when and how your prayers will be answered. It’s up for you to decide what to do with your life, and to what extent you wish to rely solely on praying.

3. The sanctity of your prayers is very important to us, and we wish to maximize your privacy. However, you need to acknowledge that the process of receiving your tweet, making it into a note and placing it in the Western Wall, requires handling by humans. They may be exposed to your prayers, even to a minimal extent.

4. Once the prayers are stashed in the Western Wall, our involvement ends. We are not responsible for whatever happens with your prayer afterwards – physically or spiritually.

5. Prayers are to be sent via direct-messages in Twitter. Prayers sent in any other form might not be processed at all. Temporal or permanent inability to send prayers via direct-messages, for any reason, does not permit you to send your prayers in any other way.

6. Although our goal is to turn tweets to notes in the Kotel, we do not commit to a certain timetable for placing tweets in the Wall. If you have a prayer you consider urgent – please find another way to send it.

7. We do not commit to offer everyone on Twitter this service. We do not commit to process all prayers and bring them to the Western Wall in Jerusalem. We may not follow users, temporarily or permanentaly, and we may remove users from our following list at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.

We reserve the right to refuse service to certain users according to our judgement and considerations, without prior notice or allowing the opportunity to appeal. Reasons for such refusal of service are, for example and not limited to, previous misuse of the service, previous violation of any of the terms of service, spamming, or any other reason we deem fit.

8. TYP does not warrant that this service, including the Twitter account and the website, will be uninterrupted, error-free, invulnerable to technological malfunctions and security breaches.

9. Due to lack of resources, TYP does not offer support to users. Problems, questions and querries may be sent, but there is no gurantee when and if they will be answered.

10. You will be held solely responsible for abusing this service in any way. Examples of abuse are, but not limited to, any actions deemed as abuse by the law, and violation of Twitter’s terms of use, using TYP’s platform to harass, slander, make defamatory or hateful remarks and statements regarding other individuals, groups or organizations, using it as a part of any illegal or morally dubious activities, spamming, or any other form of abusing of this service.

11. It is strictly forbidden to send any tweets that have to due with a criminal activity of any sort.

12. By using this service you also agree not to violate Twitter’s Terms of Use which can be found at this link: http://twitter.com/tos.

13. Documentation of placement of notes and prayers’ status updates:
This service is free of charge and handles many prayers. It is impossible to provide documentation/photographed proof that each single prayer has reached the Wall. We do not document putting every single prayer in the Wall and we do not send individual confirmation messages regarding placement of a specific prayer in the Wall.

However, by submitting your prayer you allow us to send you updates regarding the prayers status. The difference is that these updates are regarding a group of prayers put in the same trip, in which your prayer is one of them. We won’t necessarily send individual updates – we may just pronounce it publicly on our Twitter page and/or website.

14. We are not responsible for any technological or security issues. If Twitter, crashes, malfunctions, hacked, etc. and your account is damaged, direct messages get exposed, or whatever else might happen that compromises your use of Twitter and TYP – it is in no way our responsibility. This also holds true regarding the TYP’s website and email accounts.

15. Throughout this operation, we may use services provided by third parties (e.g. -  volunteers, services to help us manage the Twitter account, or other service provided by 3rd parties) for any part of our service that is done by us (and not Twitter). Obviously, using these services is meant to improve our service and to provide you, the user, with a better experience. We choose to use third party services that we believe would help this operation, however, we are not responsible for these services and their quality.

16. This service has thousands of followers on Twitter. We are in no way responsible to any of their actions. Any complaint you might have against any other user of this service should be directed to Twitter, not TYP.

Therefore, we reserve to look for sponsors to fund this operation and also to raise donations from users who wish to do so, by PayPal. It should be made clear that these donations will finance the operation of this service, and are not meant for the actual Western Wall in Jerusalem, or any other institution in Jerusalem. The funds raised will be used to cover the costs we bear operating TYP. PayPal is responsible for the technical aspect of the actual transaction, and we rely on its service to convey your donations. Any problems or claims regarding the sending donations should be addressed to PayPal, as we simply have no control over PayPal’s activities. Sending donations is also subject to PayPal’s terms of use.
