Help spread the word in the United States!

   Posted by: Alon   in Blog

Hello all!

Please hit play:

As you know, a few weeks ago I gave a talk in the #140conf (the 140 Characters Conference) in Tel-Aviv, about my experiences running TweetYourPrayers and @theKotel. Thousands have watched it online by now (and if you haven’t, it’s embedded below) and I have received countless comments, tweets and emails praising me for the talk and telling me how much it has touched and inspired them.

Since the talk touched so many people, the conference organizer, Mr. Jeff Pulver has kindly invited me to come to another conference he’s organizing in NYC in a couple of months. I really want to go to that conference and get a chance to spread my message to the US audience, and reach a broader audience in general. As you can learn from the talk I gave in Tel-Aviv, @TheKotel and the people who follow it, actually do make a change in this world. Just think to yourselves the impact of presenting my project in the US.

However, keep in mind this service is free of charge. I really can’t afford to go. I’m looking for a sponsor (or sponsors) for my trip. I think it’s a good deal for any company seeking some positive PR, because the costs are insignificant from a marketing perspective. Can you help in any way? Do you know someone who could? Please contact me.

Contact me.

If you haven’t watched my talk, here it is:

My Inspirational Talk

   Posted by: Alon   in Blog

Shalom all!

On Dec. 6th I gave a talk at the 140Conf (a conference dedicated to ‘the state of now’, Twitter, social networks and real-time online interaction), in which I presented the story behind @TheKotel & TweetYourPrayers and my experiences running this service. I talked about how taking prayers to the Western-Wall affected people’s lives, and changed mine as well.

The talk went well, and many members of the crowd contacted me to say it was a very inspirational talk that touched them deeply.

I want to share this talk with you. It’s finally online. Please dedicate a few minutes of your time to watch what I have to say, and send this presentation to your friends. I want to spread good will and inspiration! Help me achieve this goal. Help me touch people’s hearts.

I want to thank the organizer of the conference – Mr. Jeff Pulver for believing in me and giving me the stage to present the work that I do, for all of his help before the conference and for being so great afterwards. I really feel we connected and became friends that day, as we shared a very unique experience. Jeff’s been so supportive and friendly, and as you can see in the video the man wouldn’t stop hugging me! :P.Β  (Check outΒ  Jeff’s blog).

Another thank you is due for the man who actually shot this video and made it available for the world to watch. If it wasn’t for Chaim Goldman’s hard work, help and dedication, I wouldn’t be able to share my message with you. So thank you Chaim of GoGlobal New Media Marketing! You’re greatly appreciated!

Thanks also to my friend Erez Shermer, a very talented young man whose professional photographs you see in the presentation. Another thank you is to KerneL, for stepping up (or sitting down) when I needed her.

There are so many more people I need to thank, it would be impossible for me to write them all down. It doesn’t mean they’re not appreciated – quite the contrary! So many people have helped me with this incredible endeavor, and they are all appreciated and cherished.

I want to thank all of YOU – followers and friends, for being there and for sharing the video above. I really believe we can make a change and touch more people by spreading the message. Please share this video with the world (click on the small icons below)!

Your friend in the Holy Land,

Alon
P.S. – every personal message written on the slides was published with the sender’s approval.

VIDEO – Placing your prayers!

   Posted by: Alon   in Blog

Shalom everyone!

It took me a long time to edit and upload to the web, but I think you’ll enjoy the end product. Here’s a 2 minute clip my friend Dan and I shot at the Western-Wall some time ago, when we took 3,812 prayers with us.

What do you think? πŸ™‚

Yours with love from the Holy Land,

I needed a bigger box

   Posted by: Alon   in Blog

Shalom all!

Yesterday, Friday the 2nd of October, I was in Jerusalem with my childhood friend Dan, who is currently visiting Israel. We toured Jerusalem and the first stop was obviously the Kotel (the Western Wall). We took a lot of pictures and videos, some of them very special and exciting; I will sort the files soon and share them with you on this site. I also have a couple of surprises I think you’ll like πŸ™‚ . In the meantime, until I have everything sorted, I’ll share just two photos with you.

As you may remember, the first time I took prayers to the Kotel, I carried them in this box:

process07

Now, yesterday, even though each prayer was made from a smaller piece of paper, I needed a slightly bigger box. Observe:

Would anyone like to guess how many prayers are in the box? The closest guesser will win a special prize. πŸ™‚

As promised, I’ll upload more pictures and videos soon.

Take care and have a good weekend!

Alon

UPDATE Oct. 5th: OK, it’s time to reveal the actual number of prayers + announce the winners. I must say I enjoyed the past two days. This game was fun and I hope to find more of these kinds of joyful games. Are you ready? (drum roll please)

First, the people who guessed the closest are:

John Henry Bourke who guessed 3,876 prayers.

Karaleigh Salmi guessed 3,789 prayers (she also guessed one million, by the way).

Denise Lange with a good guess of 3,850 prayers.

George Koprowicz who guessed 3,840 prayers.

And the actual number is… 3,812 prayers!

So, congratulations to the four of you who were the closest, and a special appreciation to George who was off by just 18!

You are each awarded one cookie, reedmable only in Israel. πŸ™‚ Actually, email me to discuss a somewhat better (yet still modest) prize.

Thank you all for participating, and feel free to suggest more ideas for games.

Best from the Holy Land,

Alon
