First look on my talk at the #140conf NYC

   Posted by: Alon   in Blog

Shalom everyone!

As you may know, a couple of months ago I gave a talk at the #140conf in NYC about Tweet Your Prayers @TheKotel. I think the talk went well; I got laughs, applause, and hugs. I hope to have a video of my talk up soon, and in the meanwhile, I’d like to share a few photos from the event. These were taken by Amanda McCormick a.k.a. Jellybean Boom (flickr page, Twitter). These photos are published here with Amanda’s permission, and more can be found at Amanda’s flickr page.

Amanda has also written a blog post about my talk (read it here), here’s an excerpt:

I certainly was taken by surprise by this idea of “Tweet your prayers” and the presentation of it. I’m not religious, but I found the creativity of this idea very appealing indeed. And Alon Nil framed it in a quite witty and self-deprecating way as the “anti-startup.”

She went on to write:

But his testimonials of people who’s lives had been improved by participating in his service were moving, too, prompting my deep appreciation of the creativity that he has applied to Twitter.

So, thanks a lot to Amanda for the blog post and of course the photos, and I hope to have a video of my talk up soon!

Best regards from the Holy Land :),

Alon

Shalom everyone!

Ironically, this post took a long time to publish. Why do I use the word ‘Ironically’ ? Because this is a post about problem solving – and I had to overcome so many problems that kept delaying me from publishing it. If you have been following my work on Tweet Your Prayers, you probably know that I run this operation from a rather old PC. Guess what old PCs don’t excel at? Well, amongst other things – video and more precisely – video editing. It was a massive strain on my computer, and it crashed a lot (a lot!), but I persevered, looked for alternative solutions, and finally found a way to make it happen. Tenaciousness and perseverance are extremely important traits, don’t forget that.

In this video blog I talk about problem solving – what should we do if we are faced with an obstacle, and I use a problem I’m facing myself these days as an example.

Without further ado, here’s my video blog. I’d love for you to tell me what you think and if possible – extend some help. Thank you.

Thank you for watching,

Blessings from the Holy Land,

Alon 🙂

Announcing next Jerusalem ride

   Posted by: Alon   in Blog

Hello all,

I haven’t been active a lot this week because I was out with the flu. Still a bit sick, but getting better. Slowly but safely recuperating, and hope to be like new in a couple of days.

Just a week ago I was at the Western-Wall, and brought 3,812 prayers with me.

I have an important meeting in Jerusalem this coming Thursday, with a man who might really help with this operation. Of course I’ll be taking prayers with me. So, if you tweet your prayers by this Monday (Oct. 12th), they will be put in the Western-Wall on Thursday.

So tweet away, spread the word and invite your friends to do the same!

Best from the Holy-Land,

Alon

P.S. – I dislike doing this, but I need to: Please consider making a donation, so I’ll at least have the expenses covered for the trip. Thank you. Click here.
